A lawyer. He graduated from law school in Vienna. He was a supporter of assimilation. During the Russian occupation of Lviv, he served as the head of the city government (zarząd gminy). In 1915, he was taken by the Russians as a hostage to Kyiv and later to Nizhny Novgorod.
